After Apple had removed the in-box charger and earphones, citing environmental reasons in October 2020. Now the Xiaomi has followed the path of Apple By removing the charger and earphones from its upcoming smartphone’s retail box. Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun has today confirmed on Chinese social media website Weibo that the upcoming Mi 11 on December 28 will not have a charger in the retail package.
Lei Jun mentioned environmental protection as the reason for withdrawing the charger from the Mi 11 box and said he knew that this decision could not work for many customers.
In addition, Xiaomi’s Lei Jun co-founder has revealed the design of the Mi 11 retail box, which is not only thinner than other phone boxes that come with the charger, but also the Mi 11: 108MP camera, Super AMOLED. Some features are also screen, certified by HDR 10 + Harman Kardon and audio tuning.
A video posted by June presenting the box of the Mi 11 has a Chinese text that translates to “Pack Light in 2021”, suggesting that in the future Xiaomi smartphones will ship without even a charger. This is hardly a surprise, however, as this is probably an industry trend that is so be prepared to buy a charger for your new smartphone if you don’t currently have it compatible.
