Xiaomi has unveiled the new wireless charging technology called Mi Air Charge that can charge your device over the air or remote charging technology. This charging technology not requires a standard Cable or stand for charging the devices. This means that you can charge your device with no charging cable or stand.
The company also claims that this new charging technology can charge multiple devices simultaneously. “We’re excited to bring you the remote charging technology – Mi Air Charge Technology! Charge multiple devices simultaneously while you’re gaming, walking around, or even when something’s in the way, no strings attached. Another giant leap forward in wireless charging technology!” Xiaomi has said in the Twitter handle.
Lei Jun Xiaomi’s Global CEO further reported that they have developed the charging tech through the company’s space positioning and energy transmission technology. It has a built-in 5-phase transmitting antenna, which can accurately detect the state of the device and charge it. A phase control array comprising 144 antennas can beam form and emit millimetre waves.
Xiaomi has also developed a small antenna suite with a built-in “beacon antenna” and a “receiver antenna array”. Beacon antennas transmit location data with low power consumption. The receiver antenna array, which includes 14 antennas, converts the millimetre wave signal emitted from the charging pile into electrical energy via a rectifier circuit. Jun also noted that Xiaomi currently has 17 patents for Mi Air Charge Technology. New wireless charging technology can also support smart watches and other wearable technologies.
The company said it is working to improve the charging technology for more smart home appliances, including smart speakers, table lamps and other smart home products. There is currently no information on the official release of Mi Air Charging technology.
