Telegram is now become most downloaded App on Google Play Store globally


Telegram has now become the most installed non-gaming app in the world in January 2021. According to the Sensor Tower’s latest statistics data on the most popular mobile applications in the world at the end of January 2021. In the last month, the telegram has got downloaded 63 million times, which includes the 24% new telegram user are downloaded from the India and 10% from the Indonesia.


The immediate raise in downloads may be because of a dispute over WhatsApp’s privacy policy that has caused user anger and encouraged many to switch to Telegram. The TikTok came in second, followed by Signal and Facebook, but WhatsApp move smoothly from 3rd to 5th earlier in January.

TikTok is the second closest with 62 million downloads, with China accounting for 17% of downloads, followed by the United States with 10%. TikTok is still restricted in India after the government blocked some Chinese apps last year.

As per Sensor Tower, TikTok was the most installed app in December 2020, and Telegram is not in the top five list. The privacy policy controversy surrounding WhatsApp likely prompted users, switch to Telegram in January, the WhatsApp moving from third in December 2020 to fifth in January 2021. meanwhile, Signal and Facebook held third and fourth positions, respectively.

According to the report, Instagram ranked sixth on the list of non-gaming apps downloaded in January 2021, followed by Zoom, MX Taka Tak, Snapchat and Messenger. According to Sensor Tower, the quote includes downloads from both the App Store and Google Play Store worldwide from January 1, 2021 to January 31, 2021.
