The International Fact-Checking Network introduces the new WhatsApp bot to control the spread of COVID-19 misinformation. This chatbot is educated with 4000 hoaxes demystified, and can easily check if the news on COVID-19 is false or not.
WhatsApp has already taken several steps to control the spread of this false information, and recently it has reduced the propagation limit of frequently delivered messages. This new service helps users identify fake news and prevent spread.
WhatsApp says there has been a 70% decrease in the number of highly forwarded messages after applying this limit. Speaking of the new IFCN WhatsApp Chatbot, it’s free to use and WhatsApp users need to save +1 (727) 2912606 as a contact to start using the service. After saving the number, send a “hi” to the bot and wait for an automatic message. The bot delivers a message claiming to breakouts the myth and provides services to confirm COVID-19 24/7.

The IFCN bot is currently only available in English, but support for languages such as Hindi, Spanish and Portuguese will be developed soon. The Poynter Institute’s IFCN chatbot has data from more than 80 fact-checking organizations in 74 countries. As mentioned, these organizations identified more than 4,000 hoaxes associated with new coronaviruses, which are formed as a daily updated Corona Virus Facts database.
