Apple just unveiled the major update for the iMac for 2020. The new 27-inch iMac features up to 10 cores of high-speed Intel processor, double the memory capacity, next-generation AMD graphics, ultra-fast SSD with 4x the storage capacity, and superior nanotextured glass options. Retina 5K display, 1080p FaceTime HD camera, higher fidelity speakers, studio-quality microphone.
It will arrive at customers starting this week and will be available at select Apple store locations and Apple authorized resellers. Along with the new 27-inch iMac, the company also updated its 21.5-inch iMac and iMac Pro. Prices for both devices start at $1,099 (about Rs.82,000) and $4,999 (about Rs.3.7 lakhs) respectively.
The new 27-inch iMac, which features the latest 6-core and 8-core 10th-generation Intel processors and Apple for the first time, also offers a 10-core processor option with turbo boost speeds up to 5.0GHz.
The capacity of RAM goes up to 128GB. In addition to this, the 27-inch iMac will feature the next-generation AMD GPU-the Radeon Pro 5000 series with up to 6GB of memory for the first time.
What’s more, the new iMac comes with up to 3.4GB/s SSD. It also supports the 8TB SSD option for the first time. In addition to this, you can get Apple’s custom-designed T2 security chip for data encryption.
When it comes to 5K Retina displays, the 27-inch iMac supports 14.7 million pixels, 1 billion colors, 500 nits of brightness, P3 wide color, and True Tone technology.
There is also a nanotextured glass option (first introduced in Pro Display XDR) for better visibility under different lighting conditions. Apple has also upgraded its FaceTime HD camera with 1080p resolution and studio-quality microphone arrays.
For the first time, the new 21.5-inch iMac comes standard with SSDs. It can also be configured with Fusion Drive. Meanwhile, the upgraded iMac Pro features up to 18-core 10-core Intel Xeon processors, up to 22 teraflops of graphics performance, up to 256 GB of quad-channel ECC memory, and a 27-inch Retina 5K display.
